Poking tie wire

Loose brackets or band
If you need to cut a wire in case of an emergency, you may use fingernail clippers wiped in alcohol. This situation can occur when a band or bracket becomes loose and the wire pokes into the cheek.
Lost separators
Patients may lose a separator during their treatment. Do not worry about losing a separator, but call our office to see if it needs to be replaced.
Discomfort with Orthodontic Treatment
During the first week after your braces are in place, you will likely feel some soreness, or discomfort. You may take acetaminophen or Advil while you adjust to your new braces. Warm salt water rinses 2-3 times/day will allow toughening of oral lining to prevent canker sore.
